I've seen this debate very often in history forums like historum. Most people seem there seem to think the Chinese Empires are pushovers and would easily succumb to the Roman War Machine. Who do you think wins between the Roman Empire at its peak and:
a) Han China b) Song China c) Sui China d) Ming China e) Qin China f) Qing China
Please give reasons.

You mean this forum right? Lol, it's supposed to be a serious forum but the discussion sure turns juvenile quickly whenever ancient China and Rome are brought up historum.com/speculative-history/2385-roman-empire-vs-han-dynasty-6.htmlBased on the mere fact that even expeditionary forces of Asiatic nomads were able to conquer Europe/Rome, the Chinese empires would win. European armies had very particular weaknesses since they were almost entirely made up of infantry. This was the same reason they faced problems with the Muslims in the crusades and how the Byzantines(or what used to be Rome and Greece) were defeated by the Ottomans (Actually, Ottomans vs Rome is overkill) Now for each of these scenarios, the Chinese are the invading force 1. Han Dynasty 2. Song Dynasty 3. I don't know, possibly Romans? Nah, fugg it. Sui Dynasty and I have no idea why. I'm Chinese, that's reason enough. 4. Is this a joke? Did they seriously suggest Rome would prevail against the Ming? 5. Qin 6. LOL. WTF? Alright, I think you're not being serious at this point. Of course Qing China would prevail. They actually have the ability to conquer all of Europe. The debate of Rome vs China has been done to death already. The fact that China is still standing while Rome is long gone already tells us who is greater in every aspect. I actually find the following threads more interesting and relevant historum.com/asian-history/84984-china-most-despised-country-asians-westerners-2.htmlhistorum.com/asian-history/59706-china-hated-rome-admired.html

I sort of feel that Rome just ripped off Greek culture and conquered mostly lands of primitive societies / tribes

They did. Much of Rome's conquest was against primitive barbarians like the Visgoths and Celts. While they were fierce warriors in their own rights, they were outclassed in every way by the Xiongnu and the Mongols who lived side by side with the Chinese. It's easy to dismiss the Chinese as weak for being conquered by the Manchus or Mongols but the Romans and Greeks were lucky that geography protected them from the asiatic nomads. The Romans fared very poorly against the same tribes that the Chinese faced throughout their history.
Whenever the nomads crossed into Europe, the nomads took as they pleased.

The Roman Empire also happens to have the most amount of fanboys on earth, many who are not even Roman. They're also the sort of fanboys who are easily butthurt and driven to prove and convince everyone else that 'they are the best!'
Personally think almost every Chinese, Turkic, Mongolic, Hun etc. dynasty would ruin them Romans big time. Just look to the conquest of Constantinople by the Ottomans. Basically when the Chinese pushed out the Nomadics, they would move west and it seems whenever this happened, the Europeans suffered.
