Oh yes of course
I'm asking this question because I remember reading about different fruit and character properties
So for instance a peach is soft on the outside but hard inside (the fruit pit or stone). It means you can befriend them easily but they don't like to introduce you to family etc A coconut for example is hard outside and soft / liquid inside. It means that it's hard to befriend them but when you do all their contacts are available to you.
A tomato would be someone who is soft all the way through. So perhaps a tomato is honest because the inside is the same as the outside. So they are very well liked but also vulnerable.

Interesting concept. Instead of tomato, how about one of the berries? Blueberries, bananas, raspberries, cranberries, strawberries, blackberries, grapes are all squishy fruits of a more appealing nature than tomatoes. I like the personality you ascribed to a tomato but I don't like the taste of tomato. The solution is to pick a fruit yummier than tomatoes.

Yes it can be anything soft.
A strawberry wants to dangle all its assets on the outside (i.e. it has seeds on its exterior). So in this way in can be thought of as a bit of a show off. But inside there's nothing more to show. The strawberry may therefore be seen as an insecure character.

eldertree , sounds like a very interesting write up. I enjoy psychological analogies as much as the next person. Look forward to reading what you have planned. redwine , a durian is someone putrid, unapproachable and very dirty. On the outside, they're very thorny, rude and negative people. While some people with a tough exterior have redeeming features in their soft interiors, durians don't. Once you open up the nasty outer shells, you find these people are rotten on the inside with a stench permeating the entire room. Everyone who comes into contact with them are affected. They're soft because it doesn't take much to offend them and their feelings are unreasonably easy to hurt. Just like you're advised never to wrestle with a pig, you should never get involved with a durian. The mess and grime will stick to your clothes, mouths, hands and fingers. Durians test the best of you and are often successful at ruining you.
