I know Hong Kong was featured in Ghost in the Shell but that was an anime feature.  In live action Blade Runner the city was Los Angeles.  I think one of the questions to ask is which city in China is most like Los Angeles?

In wiki I found that the sister city that represents China in Los Angeles is Guangzhou.

But Guangzhou doesn't even seem that dystopic and towering with megacorporations and dystopic slums.  In fact it seems rather like it might hold utopian ideals based on this video.



But then again the year that the sister city was added was in 1981 so that might explain how things have changed for Guangzhou.

My question remains unanswered.  Sigh.
