The amazing graphics on these mmorpg clips and trailers are meant to titillate and market things like background story and classes. They never represent actual gameplay in any meaningful way. But it's only false marketing like any other kind of trailer that uses cgi for games so although I would say it is rare, it is still not an unfathomable thing when you get the game and become disappointed.

Come to think of it I am hard pressed to find a game that I did like based on the trailer. I am usually taken in by the presentation of the box's packaging and whether or not that has been clever enough to entice me.

I might be the only one but I don't like this MMORPG culture in China. True, the settings, graphics and character designs are beautiful but I feel that it traps Chinese youth, particularly young boys and makes them addicted and unproductive. They also start to lose important social skills and the meet ups and relationships created on a game are rare and rarely end well. There's a meme and many songs about Dota 2 for example.

I can understand as an industry it helps to generate revenue, increase GDP and finally living standards in China but still I think it's better for them to go fishing, take part in social activities or play ball with friends. Games are OK as long as you aren't forced to grind and earn virtual cash.
