I think they generally like it. It depends what is being ascribed though. For instance, if it's something technologically advanced then they will be like "that's how we do". If it's something negative then they will be like "nuh uh you being racist". Actually, ascribing something in the first place is making a preconceived judgement that is based on stereotypes. And stereotypes are usually harmful even if they are "good" stereotypes, like the hardworking, smart Asian trope.
