For instance if you scratch your scalp humans will tend to sniff it Humans like to smell their own farts. Every humans gut flora is unique. If a human has a scab or some dried up pus or humans tend to smell it Basically humans are a bit like dogs and like to smell things. The evolutionary purpose of it is to identify anything gone awry. If you had a yeast infection for example, it would smell foul so you would know something is up if you enjoy smelling things.

For example, nuclear bombs. There will always be a call to get rid of nuclear arms but you always hear of a new nation that is closer to the achievement of this weapon. I guess you can say it is an instinct even though they know it is going to bring about more arms race tension.

I think in extreme forms it is called oppositional defiant disorder. Some people live by the idea that rules were made to be broken. But not all humans have that though. Even so I think that even very "tame" people like to break rules once in a while but in smaller ways. For instance if they make a cake that calls for 12oz flour they might put in 13oz flour just to be a bit wild.
