I notice that a lot of them have this saber tooth cat teeth going on. Like they open their mouth to smile and boom, all of a sudden the teeth show. Then they deftly use their hand to cover their mouth to hide the appearance of being really toothy.
I don't see this problem with Japanese in the west. Perhaps they are not homogenous and are different kinds of Japanese? Just like durians and not true Chinese often inhabit the western world. Therefore their traits like darker skin will show. They will have things like non edar hair.
I'm not trying to bash anyone so I keep the observations balanced.

Apparently it's called yaeba in Japan and is a fashion statement of sorts. Beauty standards between native Japanese and western born Japanese are probably different because in the US, most girls aim for perfect straight teeth and get braces to achieve this.
When I hear about Japanese girls covering their mouths, I am reminded somewhat of native Chinese and ABCs. In the west, a good smile is wide, showing your teeth and occasionally with mouth open.

I think it's a really weak chin that reveals a saber tooth cat teeth configuration. The juxtaposition pronounces the protrusion of the teeth further. Another reason why the teeth appear soo toothy is because they aren't aligned in an arch which would otherwise allow the smile to be displayed across the face along with the teeth in a nonangular distributed fashion. However in many cases there is no arch and the the teeth just appear to be a flat bed of reeds sticking out of the mouth.
