That is supposed to be a putrefying rotting corpse sort of smell that attracts flies. So I am just wondering if there are any recipes that call for that ingredient and what sort of combinations would complement its flavour profile. Because there are recipes available for people to cook which call for certain kinds of flowers.

Every time I see that flower, it reminds me of rotting meat. Similar to the texture of stewed meat placed in the recipe of Mexican or Filipino dishes. Carne Asada Taco for example or Chicken Adobo or some other European inspired stew.

I think that the red colour and the way that the petals furl downwards in a floppy way reminds me of ham, rather than chicken. So prosciutto or something like that.

It's also called the Rafflesia and the stuff of horrors, among many in insular Southeast Asia. Some sources say that it does indeed smell of rotten meat and is sometimes called the corpse flower. It looks poisonous to me.

Looks like you can get high from it. Like a piece of that will take you to celestial world of the 5th dimension where Donald Trump is your pet monkey.

I think the mechanism of action is via the fetid putrid particles interacting with your olfactory receptors to induce a state of euphoria. It's like autoerotic asphyxiation.

Ok so apparently this is stinkier. She is even wearing a gas mask. So you just know that's deadly.

You know some haute cuisine recipes especially in desserts call for rosewater which is a special fragrant ingredient. It's made by steeping rose petals in water. So to make this sort of flowerwater I need to get petals from that stinking corpse lily and then steep them in water.

And which part of that plant is smelly anyway. Is it the rather large erect structure that looks hard in the centre. Is it the petals? Or is the entire plant just toxic from a smells point of view. I guess what I'm asking is which specific part of the plant is responsible for releasing those insufferable fumes.
