Wtf? It's obviously a piss take. They only claim to identify as "Chinese" to make it seem more acceptable. I think this is like Netherland's Zwarte Piet (blackface), but for Chinese people Note how there were people dressing in Native American headdresses too. It's basically a massive Cultural Appropriation fest. Check out the yellowface caricature: The Chinese embassy or whatever should educate them on actual Chinese culture, not these tropes and themes that border on racist. What's disappointing is China Chinese people love it. Sigh. I mean it always amazes me that Asia Asians seem oblivious when Whites are being racist. Yet diaspora Asians living in the West like us know it when we see it. Why is that? Is it because we live in White dominant societies or countries where we are the ethnic minority so we know when White people are being pricks?

It's because when it comes to Chinese at least, Chinese in China and their western born peers live in two separate worlds. Relatively, western born Asians like us ARE the privileged ones and we shouldn't forget this. No doubt there are some similarities, but overall the thinking is a lot different and what some of us perceive as slights doesn't register to them because it isn't relevant. Most Chinese don't think Dietfurt is racist and in fact feel great pride that a small town so far away admires their culture. To them, it's a way of forging understanding and sharing something in common between two great civilizations. That's why when Trump's granddaughter became a viral sensation in China because she could speak Chinese. Despite the anti-China rhetoric by the Trump administration, most Chinese do prefer Trump to Clinton and many still do. Although the vast majority are indifferent. Besides, nothing stops China from doing the same thing. Here's a Trump chicken in a city in Shanxi. Westerners and Indians think this is mockery of Trump. It's actually just business practice and perhaps a sense of admiration.

Hmm I would say Trump is an individual and isn't anyone's sacred heritage. So to mock him isn't really the same as cultural appropriation as shown in the facebook video.

Good point I don't know, maybe this is a better example? To be honest, I think my mindset is more similar to an 'Asia Asian' when it comes to the sort of cultural appropriation here. I see it as a sign that China is becoming increasingly significant on the world stage hence people are paying attention. And that's why people are 'identifying as Chinese' even when they are not. Twisted, but I sort of feel happy and most of my friends feel the same way. Partly fault my parents for their 'guidance' but mostly fault my own inflexible mind. Feel like a wild animal that can never be fully tamed by civilized western life (part joking, part serious... sadly) P.S. if you do mock Trump, his 'white' supporters would be stupendously butt hurt beyond reason. They'll also accuse you of being an 'anti-white racist'. Rich, I know.
