My statement also goes for people who think northern Asians like Tungusics, etc. look strongly different from EA/SEA... they frankly don't. Many Tungusic-speakers can pass as Cantonese. And this is especially obvious when you examine younger generations of Tungusics, who were not raised in very extreme, harsh environments like their forebears

Since throway tagged me in this thread I'll follow uisashi's lead and post something off-topic. Got to try this Cambodian dessert today without knowing what it was; I just assumed it was some sort of rice-based dessert in coconut milk. Was not expecting the big dumplings to have a savory filling lol
Re: Austroasiatic autosomal genetics Don't forget to add the Nyah_Kur (ancient Mon people) into the run later as well. Btw, you should include a South Asian/Indian subcontinental reference such as Tamil_Brahmin, Velama, Iyengar or Kerala as a lot of these SEA groups have Indian admixture, and would thus dramatically improve the distance fits. Also try include Qiang as well. It should ameliorate the fits for the Wa and Mon_Thailand. You possibly already is cognizant of the reason why Wa has high Upper Yellow River but not for the Mon_Thailand yet. The reason the Mon has such high input is due to the Tibeto-Burman ancestry they likely receive from mixing with the Pyu and later Bamar, since the homeland of Mon seems to be located in south-central Myanmar.
