Just ignore those two plainly obvious North China ethno-centrists, they're claiming everyone and everything as North Chinese. They have absolutely no regard to the differences within East and SE Asians and no respect to other people.

Judging by the behaviors of uisashi and throway2, I'm beginning to understand why Chinese are hated in many parts of Asia and the world. They have no respect to the autonomy of others and want to claim everything as Chinese.
Laos is one of the very few countries that are friendly to China and I'll explain the reason. From what I know since their independence from France Laos had been an ally or follower of Vietnam for a long time, and their relation with China once dropped to an icy point when in 1979 China decided to "retaliate" (invade) Vietnam because they had just overthrown the inhumane Khmer Rouge regime of Cambodia, as a follower of Vietnam Laos stood on Vietnam's side and condemned China's actions. But by doing this (invading Vietnam which is a communist country) China sort of gained the trust of the US and its allies and that was the reason why in the 80's China had experienced a boom in economy thanks to western support, but all that largely ended in 1989 (for reasons everyone knows I won't go into detail here). Relation with Laos gradually improved during the course of 90's and 00's, but the decisive factors that pushed Laos towards China only came in 2017 and 2018, within the last decade.
In the summer of 2018 a South Korean built dam in Laos broke which caused a massive flood there, and the South Korean company which built the dam refused to take responsibility. Vietnam won't help either. At that time the Chinese PLA was having a military exercise with the Royal Thai army somewhere in Thailand which was not that faraway from the flooded region of Laos, so China sent PLA soldiers into Laos to help combatting the flood and rescue the affected Laotian villagers.
And in 2017 China agreed to construct a highspeed rail in Laos, which took 4 years to complete in 2021.
The above two events were decisive in pushing Laos towards China. But with more and more Chinese tourists and businessmen flooding into Laos I'm afraid that this hard-won friendship won't last very long, especially with people who have a similar mindset to uisashi and throway2, claiming everything as Chinese and have no respect to the local culture and customs.

Not sure what the root of this problem is, but a good goal for the Chinese govt would be to reduce such behavioral patterns at least 70% by the year 2060.

You and uisashi behave very similarly to those Sinocentrists on Zhihu and Tieba, trust me I've seen many of them, to the point that I feel they are like mindless clones. Stop pretending that you aren't one of them. I agree that utu's words are quite harsh and insulting but you and uisashi aren't innocent, you guys are the provocateurs.

There are "godamn" phenotype differences between northern and southern Asians but it's not as clearcut as you make it sound like...for example a shitload of Mongols and central Shaanxi people have eyebrows close to their eyes whereas Atayal Taiwan Aborigines do not. You can't just make broadly encompassing statements like northern people usually look like x and southern people look like y. It's at best inaccurate and at worst racism.

You can't just make broadly encompassing statements like northern people usually look like x and southern people look like y. It's at best inaccurate and at worst racism. What you and throway2 are doing is basically cherry-picking certain northern-looking individuals among southerners and then claim that "northerners and southerners look the same". I don't deny that there're certain northern-looking individuals in the south due to historical and recent migrations, in the case of Atayal a lot of them especially the younger generation probably have Sinitic Hokkien admixtures. However, there're a shitload of Far South Chinese and SE Asians that don't look like northerners, and yet you completely ignore their existence. Broadly speaking there're indeed phenotype differences between Northern and Southern Asians, and this is something that you cannot deny. It's not racism to acknowledge and admit the differences between two peoples as long as the difference is respected and tolerated, which I certainly do. However it's Sinocentrism or North China centrism to lump everyone into the category of Northwest Chinese. It's a complete disrespect to the autonomy of other ethnic groups and nationalities.

Atayals don't even look Hokkien...? They resemble some Japanese pheno more than they look Hokkien.
What even is a northern pheno and a southern pheno? Mimiyan Yue Yunpeng is northern and sexy austronesian mediathot is southern?
