Which would explain why certain foods are loved by mature people and hated by kids?
For instance kids hate the taste of beer, wine, dark chocolate, etc, but adults love it
Kids like fruity candy and sweet foods, older people are known to like liquorice and menthol or minty flavours.
Is that due to a loss of taste buds which changes one's preference to certain flavours?

Perhaps but I think some food is just acquired taste. But I have been wondering how taste can be acquired though Because if you tried it once and didn't like it, it isn't likely you'll try it again

It took me at least 3 tries before I liked Sushi. It took at least 5 tries before I liked beer. About the same for blue cheese.
I think your brain can be trained to learn to appreciate certain things. No idea how the mechanics works biologically, but something goes on.

I think your brain can be trained to learn to appreciate certain things. No idea how the mechanics works biologically, but something goes on. Peer pressure. Your peers were like go on try another piece of sushi. Didn't like it. Go on try another piece of sushi. Didnt like it. Then repeat until you're mind is familiar with the texture and experience of sushi. Your brain tolerates familiarity. So now you like sushi. For me I am not a fan of sushi (I don't hate it, but it isn't something I would choose), I went to Japan and ordered authentic sushi and I was just like meh. I mean okay I will eat it if I have to, but it isn't my favourite.
