I would say La Familia Sagrada represents the height of non post modern western architecture and the building is constructed under the style of Modernisme or Catalonian Modernism to be more specific and rather like the style of Deco. It does what its predecessors have done and took it to much greater heights.

If we make a comparison with western architecture, critiquing now of eastern architecture paradigm, the classical period would have to be during the neolithic period of Liangzhu and Erlitou culture. Although Chinese architecture has always made use of wooden materials instead of stone, unfortunately nothing has survived since more than 5000 years ago. However artists have came up with these images which attempt to reconstruct the buildings in the past due to the scant archaeological findings.

The most important concept of ancient Chinese architecture was that it was always oriented according to considerations for comfortable temperature.  During the winter months when the sun was lower in the sky, had a shorter duration in the sky, and facing primarily from the south for its time in the sky the light it shed on people's dwellings could be more easily absorbed if entryways were opened towards the south, from where the light came from.  During the hottest months of the year the eves were extended and designed to block out excessive light.


And this is the architectural wonder which has done what its predecessors have done and well surpassed them in scope and flair, the Ming dynasty mausoleums.  In both instances, the La Familia Sagrada and the Ming mausoleums, visitors are impressed upon with the meaning of the expression, "Go out with a bang," and the reminder of afterlife.

It does resemble geological formations on the outside. And on the inside it's an organic forest.

It's like the Lord of the Rings movies took reference.

As for Chinese architectural styles, there are too many to name (I prefer modern ones myself) but I feel that the town of Fenghuang is one of my favorites. The entire town itself is an architectural marvel to me since so many buildings there are amazing:
