Yes I can usually tell. British actors and actresses usually look less "polished" and more rough around the edges for some reason. White Australians are a bit more like White Americans in the groomed and polished department, but have a more Anglo rather than Germanic face.

For example this movie trailer had me duped for thinking that it was an American made movie when it was set in Ireland. I felt something was off but it wasn't really noticeable due to the visual settings being pretty much what you'd expect to see in any upscale US suburbia. Is this what you mean by a more polished appearance or demeanor? |

No I meant more like this. British productions are usually more gritty, whereas American productions try to be gritty but end up being too Hollywoodised and polished.
Shameless UK original (they look like actual unemployed / lower class people)

Shameless USA version (whitened teeth, groomed hair, good skin and makeup, clean clothes, don't look impoverished)
