thejackal It's a long story (might even be perceived as offensive to some -eyeroll). I think it's better to discuss with you the matter privately and personally. The fighting in Kokang hasn't stopped, lots of refugees have fled to China and sadly lots more coming. Lots of them take shelter in villages among the rural Yunnanese communities. What's pathetic is Austric Malays like poohunter don't seem to care about their "Austric ancestral relatives" now despite furiously advocating for their independence from "oppressive" Chinese before. It seems those oppressive Chinese are the ones who care about them most. Goes to show how shallow his underlying motives are, huh? Makes me treat every word given out by Malays with cynicism. Anyway, the children and the elderly have it hardest. Here's a brief glimpse of the camps, not a very pretty sight. Imagine having to eat like this while being totally happy about it. Puts me to shame every time I complain about food at a restaurant. These children don't even have chairs. Somehow this picture struck a chord with me. Despite the circumstances and "identities", respecting of elders seems to be a universal thing. Their children are the same as our children

You have the more interesting opinions/personality while he is more experienced, he knows quite a bit about native reserves and travels well IMO

galvatronprime Anyway that's enough talk about that disgusting poohunter for one day. Let's discuss something more important. Is it possible for you and some of the more fair minded mods to get Ironman to take that thread out of SPAM (yes, I've given up on any fairness or any form of compassion from MrCr@p long ago). It's very insulting (and unethical) to the persecuted minorities of Myanmar to leave it there. You guys can even get Ironman to talk to me personally since I do feel he is sincerely trying to make things better. He needs to be a little firmer when stating his reasons and stick to his values. Though I know he can't pull it off easily since he's too nice except to this Ejay person lol. I promise I'll try to be as courteous as possible since I do feel he is a sincere and fair minded person. The two Malay people who're always bleating about ASEAN unity don't seem to care about these ethnic groups when they're actually being oppressed, only if China is doing something to them (like hundreds of years prior). Just goes to show how Sino-Tibetans/Tibeto-Burmans really are viewed as a separate race and are considered Southeast Asian only for political reasons, i,e. pandering and pseudofying purposes so I'll leave it up to you to take responsibility and be a fairer moderator for all Asians, not just "mainstream" ones. defiancexyzz This topics have moved to vBCms (Publish News Comments) section and also appear on news section,it no more on spam section after i edit the topics with picture . eastbound88.com/showthread.php/47322-Deadly-clashes-hit-Chinese-speaking-Kokang-in-Myanmar-s-Shan-statewww.eastbound88.com/content.php

galvatronprime Please think about the people who've been displaced or left orphaned in the midst of this conflict. Let's not politicize their sufferings but respect their plight. EB88ers, you might not think they're related to you or that they're all simply "Chinese" (highly laughable, misinformed and racist BTW) but they are people too. I'm not asking for anyone to comment on that thread, I'm not asking for anyone to get blamed... all I'm asking is for a little empathy and to put it where it should be as a sign of solidarity and respect, the least you could do. They're people. They laugh They cry Think about your own family and friends, even enemies and count your blessings... For NO child should have to live like this, caring for their siblings in place of their parents and surrounded by a military presence Are these ethnic minorities in Burma? A lot of them don't look like Han Chinese to me phenotypically speaking.

Look at this guy in this article: pulitzercenter.org/reporting/china-burmese-brides-no-legal-statusI find it very hard to believe that he is Chinese.

Agree he doesn't look Chinese at all. Yep it is very possible they are referring to his Chinese nationality rather than ethnicity. IMO, very likely he is an ethnic minority in those isolated fringe border areas with Burma. The village where he lives. It is pretty close very close to Burmese border : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longchuan_County,_Yunnan

shirvanshah eldertree Yes, they're all ethnic minorities in Myanmar. Some are 'Han', most aren't. For example, the women in the following photo are Palaung, a Mon-Khmer people If you look into the history of the MNDAA and the history of Shan and Kachin state, you'll know which parties are involved and why simplistic logic like "they are all Chinese" is not just ignorant, it shows a complete lack of compassion and IQ. Here's a map of Myanmar: The troubled states bordering China in question are the Kachin and Shan states and the majority ethnic groups are named after the states they're in. But if you study the map further, you'll realize how fragmented Myanmar is and appreciate the degree of suffering people have endured there. Kayah, Karen, Chin and Arakan State have all faced military actions and brutalities one way or another and non are particularly fond of the Myanmar army.

Look at this guy in this article: pulitzercenter.org/reporting/china-burmese-brides-no-legal-statusI find it very hard to believe that he is Chinese. Some are, but most are Tibeto-Burman and Tai-Kadai. The man's wife in your article hails from Kachin State. People from this region are collectively called Jingpo in China. They're a Sino-Tibetan peoples, a mountainous people having little to do with coastal Austrics of which the most common are the Malays/ISEAs. ^She's wearing a modified version of her ethnic attire making it much more difficult to determine ethnicity by clothing. It's important to note that while some don't look Chinese, others can. Most of the people from my images look quite consistent with rural Chinese nationals living on the bordering areas. Poverty and a life of labor do take their toll on overall experience and I've found that younger, more affluent Northern Burmese minorities don't really look that different from their relatives in China, and even "Han" Chinese around that area. Whatever the case, I regard all Chinese, including minorities Chinese; and all Sino-Tibetans brethren.
